Playas
del Este (Eastern Beaches) are located there and stretch out for almost ten kilometers
to the city´s Atlantic coast. Bacuranao, Tarará, Santa María del Mar, Boca
Ciega and Guanabo beaches are part of this region. Cojímar, the place where
Ernest Hemingway used to go fishing in his yatch “Pilar”, is one of the most
distinctive towns of the municipality.
